Long time user (all the way back to BirdieSync 1) with a problem:
I just spent an hour trying to get Birdiesync to work on a new laptop, to no avail.
- Installed Thunderbird (v91)
- Installed Birdiesync (3.2.5)
- Started Birdiesync, started the 'add new source' process for Thunderbird.
-- On the 'Start Thunderbird and accept add-on' step, nothing happens. When I open Thunderbird, no add-on prompt appears.
Things I've tried so far:
- reboot, try again.
- made sure BirdieSync had full permissions in the Windows firewall
- uninstall BirdieSync, try again.
- run either/both applications as administrator
- extract xpi file from BirdieSync installer, try to install that manually from Thunderbird.
But still no luck.
My questions:
- What else can I try?
- Is there a specific reason why, even after 15 years, we can't just install the add-on from addons.thunderbird.net?
Regards,
A satisfied, but frustrated user.
Thunderbird add-on not installing
Re: Thunderbird add-on not installing
Hello Itsacon,
There was a change regarding the way Thunderbird 91.0.2 referenced its main toolbar which prevented the installation and starting of BirdieSync add-on. Could you please update to BirdieSync 3.2.5.1 which should fix the problem ?
Thanks.
