Post by Birdy »

Changes:

- Windows 7 support. If Outlook is not installed on the desktop, the installer offers to disable the warning displayed by the Windows Mobile Device Center, mentioning that no default email program is selected (although Thunderbird is).
- Windows Mobile 6.5 support. It is now automatically detected by the installer.
- Additional traces in desktop logs to mention enumeration of items and in mobile device logs to identify items in case of problems.

Bug corrections:

- In Windows mobile 2003, synchronization of emails could lead to unresolved items
- When synchronizing a high number of mails, the consumption of memory could abnormally increase
- If a mail folder already existed on the mobile device and differing by lower/upper cases with the destop one, that could stop the synchronization
- With ActiveSync, if an item was modified on both mobile device and desktop and if the synchronized folder was synchronized "from desktop to mobile device", the window asking you to choose which item you wanted to keep was never displayed and could lead to a synchronization loop
- An alert could be raised mentioning that both Outlook and Lightning/Sunbird tasks were selected for synchronization although it was not the case

Version 1.7.1.3

Changes:

- Synchronization and Miscellaneous panels were reorganized in BirdieSync options
- Uninstallation has now its own log
- Some updates in help file. Its size was reduced with a better compression of images.

Bug corrections:

- Contact IM address and nickname were not properly synchronized from the desktop to the mobile device
- The task date of completion was not properly synchronized from the desktop to the mobile device
- In some particular circumstances, an item could be marked unresolved but the synchronization could succeed at next synchronization.
- If a mail was deleted on the mobile device, a lot of traces were unnecessarily displayed in the logs
- Under Vista, the uninstaller displayed an XP image to choose the first synchronization mode.
- An uncorrect trace was displayed in the log when a duplicate was deleted on mobile device side
- No more unwanted scrollbar in mail folder list in BirdieSync options

- If an error happens while creating logs, the location is now displayed in the error message

Bug corrections:

- If the option "link calendar name to category name" was selected in BirdieSync options and an item was moved on the mobile device from a synchronized calendar to another one, the item could be duplicated on the mobile device (but not on the desktop)
- During installation on Windows 2000, the mobile device was never detected as connected
- If a mail was created/modified/deleted on the mobile device in a folder whose synchronization way was set to "From PC to mobile device", synchronized and immediately changed/deleted on the mobile device before the second synchronization, it could lead to an unresolved item or make Thundebird crash
- If a Lightning/Sunbird recurring event has the same deleted occurrence repeated several times, it no longer leads to an unresolved item
- If the classical version of Thunderbird/Sunbird was not installed when using the portable version of Thunderbird/Sunbird, the "Use current Thunderbird/Sunbird" button didn't work in BirdieSync options and the preferences could not been read again after having been saved
- If ActiveSync or the Windows Mobile Device Center was not installed, no error message was displayed about it during the installation
- If no birthday or anniversary are set on the mobile device contact, the matching fields in Thunderbird are now cleared instead of being filled with "0"

- Possible crash of ActiveSync in very rare circumstances

- If some major fields (like the event name) of a Google calendar event had been modified on the desktop, then a modification on the mobile device could lead to an unresolved item with a "modification failed" error
- If the same Google calendar event was created and deleted while the mobile device was connected, it could lead to an unresolved item with a "modification failed" error
- On Windows XP, synchronizing a Google calendar event from the mobile device could lead to a conflict to be manually resolved
- On Vista, synchronizing a Google calendar event from the mobile device could leave the desktop event unmodified and the mobile device event could lose its modification during the next synchronization

Because of important modifications, it is necessary to fully reconfigure BirdieSync options after having installed this new version.
So you must open "Tools/BirdieSync/Options" and then configure the synchronization.

Please read carefully BirdieSync help file to know more about the new synchronization way "from the desktop to the mobile device". Especially, it is necessary to synchronize 2 times to roll back the modifications that you did on your mobile device.

This version if only compatible with Lightning/Sunbird 0.9

Changes:

- Support of Lightning/Sunbird 0.9
- Configuration of task and event synchronization is now independent. It's possible to choose separately which calendar is synchronized for events and tasks. This is particularly useful for Google calendars which don't support task synchronization.
- In addition to the "both ways" synchronization, it is now possible to synchronize only "from the desktop to the mobile device". All the modifications performed on the mobile device will be ignored. For instance, this feature should be used to synchronize all "read only" calendars like public holidays calendars or automatically generated birthday calendars.
- It's now possible to directly open the archive from the log archiver
- A message indicates the progress and the end of the generation in the log archiver
- License button is moved to menu
- About menu displays BirdieSync version
- Installer updated with more accurate information
- Traces for unresolved items are better displayed in Notepad editor

Users who tried BirdieSync previously can test these new features during an additional week of trial period
